The shapes and colours of the original panel suggest the ubiquitous wild rose of
Alberta, a common sight on St. Albert's extensive trail system, and officially adopted by the Province as its floral emblem in 1930. From this hardy stock, the celebrated horticulturist and acclaimed literary scholar and writer, Georges Bugnet, developed (1950) the hybrid commonly known as the Thérèse Bugnet Rose that has graced private gardens and public spaces in St. Albert and throughout the World, reflecting the remarkable beauty of the land and the resilient nature and innovative spirit of the people of Alberta.
