the pond area

Artist Statement:
I chose an un-bordered acrylic painting or 'vignette’ of the MRU pond with view of the carillon by the east buildings. This area has significant meaning for me as a landscape artist, a MRU Alumni and now MRU staff member. I first sketched the area in the early 80's when I took a watercolour workshop. Shortly after I attended the Alberta College of Art & Design (82-86). Later, I attended  MRC as a part-time student in 1999 taking credit courses to transfer for BFA at ACAD. In 2008 I started working in the IEN Programs Dept. and when the weather is warm I go to the pond on my breaks to sketch this natural area it continues to serve as artistic inspiration.
