"Flying Leap" - Nubian Ibex

Artist Comments: The Nubian Ibex ranges in Egypt in a small area east of the Nile. Preferring rough arid terrain, this species occurs in rocky mountains, gorges, outcrops and wadis. In contrast to most desert animals, the Nubian ibex drinks daily, and has a light, smooth, shiny coat which is thought to reflect large amounts of incoming solar radiation. This allows the animals to remain active throughout the day, even during hot summer afternoons. Their status is limited and endangered in Israel. Few studies on the species have been done aside from the Sinai Peninsula.
