Hyacinth Macaw (Rare Gem of Brazil)

Artist website:
Artist Comments: The largest Parrot in the World, the Hyacinth Macaw is presently on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Living mainly in the Pantanal region of Brazil, which is the world’s largest continental wetland, the Hyacinth Macaw feeds mainly on nuts from native palm trees. Unfortunately, this beautiful bird is highly threatened due to habitat loss and collection for the illegal pet trade. However, much is being done to help through the Hyacinth Macaw Project lead by biologist Neiva Guedes and the Pantanal Forever Programme lead by the World Wildlife Fund.
